‘Transformers,’ ‘Thunder,’ ‘Batman’ Arrive on Disc

Robots in disguise, cats on the loose and plenty of anime releases are set to brighten up the home video scene this week.

One of the summer’s biggest hits arrives with the release of Transformers: Age of Extinction (Paramount, $49.99 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy; $40.99 Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy; $30.99 DVD). The fourth film in the blockbuster series based on the 1980s toy line and animated series grossed more than a billion dollars at the global box office. If you were one of the few who missed it, now’s your chance.

Arriving in the U.S. is nWave’s Thunder and the House of Magic (Shout! Factory, $25.97 Blu-ray and DVD). The family film, about an abandoned cat named Thunder who finds a new home in a magician’s house, has been released to acclaim and success overseas. After a short theatrical run earlier this month, it’s now available for you to take to your house of magic.

If you love Batman — and who doesn’t? — there are two great animated releases out this week, including Beware the Batman: Dark Justice – Season 1, Part 2 (Warner Bros., $19.97 DVD) and the high-def debut of Batman: The Brave & the Bold — Season 2 (Warner Bros., $29.99 Blu-ray).

Also out this week is the feature Dwegons and Leprechauns (ANconnect, $20.99 DVD), as well as a pair of new titles for Mattel properties, Monster High: Freaky Fusion (Universal, $26.98 Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy; $19.98 DVD) and Team Hot Wheels: The Origin of Awesome! (Universal, $26.98 Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy; $19.98 DVD).

Other kid-friendly releases include: Franklin & Friends: Trick Or Treat! It’s Halloween Franklin (Phase 4 Films, $12.99), My Little Pony: Escape from Catrina & Other Adventures (Shout! Factory, $12.99) and My Little Pony: The Complete Series (Shout! Factory, $29.93).

Fans of vintage toons will no doubt want to check out Betty Boop: The Essential Collection Volume 4 (Olive Films, $29.95 Blu-ray, $24.95 DVD).
