‘Jackboots on Whitehall’ Hits DVD, VOD, Digital

New Video’s Flatiron Film Company announces the U.S. debut of the supermarionation WWII farce, Jackboots on Whitehall, available on DVD, video on demand and digital platforms July 26.

The film, which is the first feature effort from Scottish brothers Edward and Rory McHenry, follows Chris, a young farm worker who dreams of a chance to join the army and fight in exciting new lands. His chance comes when three top Nazi leaders (the massive Goering, malnourished Goebbels and campy Himmler) hatch a plan to invade England by drilling under the Channel into the heard of London. With no military support to defend the country, it’s up to Chris and his ragtag group to defend England.

Described as Team America meets Inglorious Basterds, Jackboots features an all-star cast including Ewan McGregor, Alan Cumming, Dominic West, Rosamund Pike, Tom Wilkinson, Timothy Spall and Richard E. Grant. Karl Richards of Entertainment Motion Pictures produced the flick, which was made using an innovative puppeteering animatronics technique developed by Rory McHenry, as well as visual effects by MFX London. Nigel Thomas and Charlotte Walls of Matador Pictures exec produced.

The DVD release will included behind-the-scenes footage, interviews with the creators, a theatrical trailer and several featurettes: The Swastikas, Bad Day to be a Nazi, Hitler’s Rat Pack, The Nazi Hotties, Explosions and Voiceovers. More information and preorders will be available June 28 on newvideo.com
