- Jillianne Reinseth has been appointed VP creative affairs for eOne Family, effective March 2. Based in Toronto, Reinseth will lead creative affairs for eOne Family and oversee linear content acquisition, development and production for the division. She will work closely with eOne Family’s distribution, licensing and merchandising leadership globally to ensure the content acquired and produced by the division matches the needs of the market. Prior to joining eOne, Reinseth served as VP of creative affairs for Nerd Corps Entertainment.
- Cartoon Network announced Spin Master as the global master toy partner for The Powerpuff Girls, anchoring the licensing program for the global franchise launch set for 2016. The toy company will have rights to create a full line of products based on the brand, including plush, figures and playsets, dolls, and role play, select electronic, activity and remote control toys, and novelty and impulse items. The product will begin its global retail rollout beginning in fall 2016.
- Paris-based Cyber Group Studios has added to its animation catalogue the action comedy packed series G-Fighters (26 x 22 mins.) from Korean CJ E&M Corporation for worldwide distribution. The new full 3D series is a superhero action comedy targeting kids ages 6 to 10.
- Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana has announced a partnership with Cepia, the innovative toy company behind the multibillion-dollar ZhuZhu Pets brand. The agreement includes plans to bring the pets back to store shelves, and will see Nelvana Studio produce a new animated series based upon the property. Nelvana Enterprises will also oversee global merchandising of the brand in conjunction with the distribution of the new series.
- The Jim Henson Company has announced production on an all-new fourth season of the two-time Emmy-nominated and Parents’ Choice Silver Honor animated series Dinosaur Train. The fourth season will consist of 10 CG-animated, half-hour episodes (or 20 x 11 mins. episodes).
