‘Gnomeo’ Comes Home on DVD, Blu-ray, 3D

The hit independent animated feature film Gnomeo & Juliet leads the week’s major home video releases.

Directed by Kelly Asbury of Shrek 2 fame and featuring music from the legendary Elton John, Gnomeo & Juliet (Disney, $29.99 DVD, $39.99 Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, $49.99 3D Blu-ray/Blu-ray/DVD combo pack) arrives with plenty of bonus features. The DVD features bonuses including the features Elton Builds a Garden, Frog Talk with Ashley Jenson and a video for the song Crocodile Rock, featuring Elton John and Nelly Furtado. The Blu-ray versions feature two alternate endings with filmmaker introductions, deleted and alternate scenes and The Fawn of Darkness with Ozzy Osbourne.

Also out this week is the first-ever DVD release for Nick’s hit series Fanboy and Chum Chum (Nickelodeon, $16.99). The release includes eight episodes from the show’s first season. Bonus features include six Fanboy and Chum Chum shorts and the pilot episode of the series Planet Sheen.

Disney fans will want to take a look at Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Great Outdoors (Disney, $19.99).

Die-hard Transformers fans will likely already have pre-ordered the 15-disk box set Transformers: The Complete Original Series (Vivendi, $99.99).

Other animated releases this week include the anime release Soul Eater: Parts 1 & 2 (FUNimation, $69.98 DVD, $69.98 Blu-ray) and the high-def release of Peanuts: Happiness Is A Warm Blanket Charlie Brown (Warner Bros., $24.98).
