CAKE to Serve New ‘Angry Birds’ Toon at MIPTV

London-based kids entertainment company CAKE has announced it will be launching Rovio’s edgy-new comedy series Angry Birds Blues to the MIPTV market in Cannes next month. The recently announced CG-animated 30 x 2’30” non-dialogue show is aimed at kids 6-12 and stars the boisterous blue birds and hatchlings from The Angry Birds Movie.

In fact, the series was teased during the end credits of the movie, which had No. 1 releases in over 50 countries. The huggable hatchlings first achieved breakout stardom in a viral holiday short released in 2015, which has since racked up over 40 million views.

CAKE is handling worldwide distribution for Blues, and will also be showcasing new episodes from Rovio’s Piggy Tales: 4th Street — the fourth series of the Bad Piggies-centered series — at MIP.

Angry Birds Blues is a great addition to the Angry Birds franchise which now consists of 10 series. The cute loveable characters are already a hit with fans all over the world and we are looking forward to launching the series at MIPTV,” said CAKE CCO and MD, Ed Galton.

Synopsis: Angry Birds Blues follows the antics of mischievous bluebird triplets Jake, Jay and Jim who, when not under the watchful eyes of their doting parents, charge into uproarious and outrageous escapades on Bird Island. Bursting with energy and big plans that wildly succeed or hilariously fail, the Blues’ feats are often complicated by a supporting cast of naive, yet adorable, baby hatchlings, who make the perfect pawns for the Blues’ pranks in crazy antics and unbelievably comic disasters that you won’t be able to resist!
