KidsCo has acquisition Traces, an original HD TV animated series co-produced by Taiwanese animation studio, Xanthus, and Swiss animation studio, Animagination.
KidsCo, a global children’s television network for pre-schoolers, is a joint-venture channel owned by NBC Universal, Corus Entertainment and Cookie Jar Entertainment. It will air the 13 25-minute episodes of the show Monday through Friday at 3:50 p.m. across Asia and Africa.
Here’s how the network describes the show:
Traces features two young heroes, Toni and Carla, who go back in time to explore the mysteries of the past. Having stumbled upon an archaeological site, Toni and Carla emerge several hundred years earlier. In each episode they embark on an adventure with their friend Ona, who is trying to stop the villain, Corbu. Along the way they learn a great deal about theworld around them, such as why salt used to be a valuable commodity, and how sometimes the smallest of things can make the biggest of differences. Traces is to be the first Chinese series to be screened on KidsCo and will air in both Mandarin and English.
“KidsCo is delighted to be supporting international co-productions to create shows that are designed, first and foremost, to make a positive difference in the world,” said Eileen McCarthy, director of programming at KidsCo. “We are really excited to be adding HD to our offering across Asia and Africa and plan to offer this show in VoD in the near future.”
