The 13 Assassins and Ichi the Killer helmer once again flexes his suspense muscles for this adaptation of the fourth part of Araki Hirohiko’s manga, Diamond Is Unbreakable. You have until July 1 to submit your animated short films (up to 5 min., 5-24 min., or 24-50 min.), commissioned films, documentaries, feature and student/grad works for the international competition. The festival’s 41st edition will take place Nov. 6-12 in Espinho, Portugal.

This year’s MIA Animation Festival (Miami, FL; October 14) will present a pitching contest for animated TV and web series in two categories: targeting kids (13 years old and under) and targeting adults (14 and up). Submissions are due by August 31, so get cracking.
