‘Peppa Pig’ Gets New Holiday “Peppasode,” Heads to Germany

Kids’ favorite toon on trotters is busy as ever! The latest news is that young viewers and their families should tune in to the Nick Jr. preschool block on December 22 at 12:30 p.m. for a funny and festive holiday special featuring a brand-new “peppasode”: “Father Christmas.”

An international hit, Peppa Pig follows irrepressible Peppa, her brother George, Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and all her animal friends on playful, hilarious adventures — often with a good session of muddy puddle jumping! In “Father Christmas,” Peppa and her playgroup prepare to put on a big Christmas show for all the parents, and get a surprise visit from Father Christmas himself. The special also includes the wintery tales “Santa’s Grotto,” “Santa’s Visit,” “Mr. Potato’s Christmas Show” and “Snow.”

In other snorting-good news, Entertainment One announced that Peppa Pig is heading to screens in Germany via top children’s channel Super RTL. The free-to-air broadcaster will premiere brand new episodes from season 7 beginning March 1, 2018. Further, Super RTL’s licensing division will handle Peppa’s program in Germany, with a focus on lining up new partners and managing existing relationships.

Claude Schmit, CEO at Super RTL said, “We’re extremely excited about the arrival of Peppa Pig on Super RTL. The show’s winning combination of humour, charm and relatable stories of everyday family life is sure to appeal to our preschool audience and we look forward to bringing Peppa Pig to homes across Germany next year.”
