Alberto Vázquez and Pedro Rivero’s angsty indie delight Birdboy: The Forgotten Children is ready to come home to roost on Blu-ray + DVD combo pack, with a release set for March 13 via GKIDS.
In addition to the critically lauded feature film, the set also includes Vázquez’s highly decorated short Decorado. So, in one set you get both titles with which the director made a historic double Goya Award win for animated feature and short film last year!
Birdboy: the Forgotten Children is a beautifully crafted 2D dark comedy about coming of age in a world gone to ruin, starring an array of adorable yet haunted little animals.
Synopsis: There is light and beauty, even in the darkest of worlds. Stranded on an island in a post-apocalyptic world, teenager Dinky and her friends hatch a dangerous plan to escape in the hope of finding a better life. Meanwhile, her old friend Birdboy has shut himself off from the world, pursued by the police and haunted by demon tormentors. But unbeknownst to anyone, he contains a secret inside him that could change the world forever.
As well as Decorado, bonus features include an interview with the filmmakers, the original Birdboy short film, and theatrical trailer.
