Denis Do’s Funan and Nienke Deutz’s Bloeistratt, 11 were among the many prize-winning features, shorts and TV projects at the Annecy Festival’s closing night ceremonies on Saturday. Nora Twomey’s Oscar-winning movie The Breadwinner and Trevor Jimenez’s debut short Weekends also stood out for winning multiple awards. PIG: The Dam Keeper Poems, We Bare Bears and Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special took home prizes in the TV categories. Projects that mixed the personal experiences of the filmmakers with the political world around them took center stage at the popular international event this past week, which seems to keep growing in popularity and attendance year after year.
