Production company Studio 100 Media is launching a new animation house in Munich, dubbed Studio Isar Animation. The facility will have workstations for up to 40 artists and will tackle CGI work such as modeling, texturing, shading, lighting, effects, compositing and rendering for own productions as well as service work for third parties and co-producers. Located in the Neumarkter Strasse by Studio 100 Media’s headquarters, Studio Isar Animation is expected to open in October.
Adding Studio Isar’s capabilities to its global animation production network — comprised of Flying Bark Productions (Australia), Studio 100 Animation (France) and Little Airplane Productions (USA) — means Studio 100 Group will be able to create all elements of its upcoming feature film productions completely in-house.

Producer Thorsten Wegener added: “With Studio Isar Animation, Studio 100 Media continues to open up for co-productions and co-financing of new feature film projects by third parties. With regard to Studio 100 Film, our own sales department for international animated films, we now have the opportunity to offer our partners all steps from the idea to development, production and international distribution from a single source.”
Studio Isar Animation’s first project will be the CG work for the third Maya the Bee feature film, working titled The Golden Orb and due out in 2020. Produced by Studio 100 Media and Flying Bark Productions, the trequel has already presold to international territories including the US, France and Poland. FFF Bayern is supporting the production with 1.57 million euros through the International Co-Productions program.
