Prepare for a hallucinatory, hyper-violent and utterly wild ride when GKIDS brings French-Japanese graphic novel adaptation MFKZ to select theaters starting October 12. In the new trailer, you can hear how the the English language voice cast — featuring Giancarlo Esposito, Vince Staples, RZA and Dascha Polanco — brings the film’s unlikely urban heros and the hard streets of DMC to life.
Fathom Events will premiere the film with a special October 11 screening event, with an encore on Oct. 16.
Directed by Shojiro Nishimi and Guillaume “Run” Renard, MFKZ centers on young Angelino and his skull-and-flame pal Vinz, who live in a seedy tenement in an LA-inspired dystopian metropolis — a burnt-out, gang and cockroach-ridden neo-urban hell. Following a scooter accident, Angelino starts experiencing migraines and strange hallucinations, as well as fits of rage-inspired superpowers, as he slowly awakens to the truth of his origins: he is half-human and half-Macho, a supernatural alien race that is bent on taking over the planet.
