Animation Block Party Sets Alumni Showcase Lineup

Animation Block Party (www.animationblock.com) has announced the official short film program for its outdoor alumni screening at Rooftop Films on Friday, June 21. The first day of summer screening will take place at Industry City, located at 51 35th St., Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Doors to the event open at 8 p.m., followed by live music at 8:30 p.m. and a screening at 9 p.m., followed a filmmaker Q&A and wrapping with an open-bar after-party.

Alumni of the Animation Block Party film festival include Academy Award nominees, Sundance winners, hit television show creators, independent filmmakers, commercial producers and animators from Cartoon Network, Disney, Netflix, Warner Bros. Animation, Nickelodeon and more. The official Animation Block alumni showcase program includes the North American Premiere of the sci-fi epic Avarya from Turkey’s Gökalp Gönen, winner of the Best Computer Animation jury prize at Animation Block Party 2015. Other highlights include two comedy cartoon premieres from DreamWorks TV, plus Popcorn, an HD Terrytoons restoration from animation historian Jerry Beck’s archive.
