Springfield Turns “Upside Down” in ‘Simpsons’ Ep. 666

The Simpsons 2019 Halloween special is going to be extra spooky. Not only does this year’s installment of the annual “Treehouse of Horror” special fall on episode number 666, but the record-breaking animated series icon will be paying homage to eerie Netflix fan favorite Stranger Things — as well as Guillermo Del Toro’s Oscar-winning weird romance, The Shape of Water.

Fox Animation revealed the mash-ups with a promotional poster which features Simpson family members and other Springfieldians costumed as the monster mystery-sleuthing kids of Stranger Things and other key characters from the show — including Lisa as telekinetic tween Eleven, complete with shaven head and nosebleed. Above this scene, Marge’s sister Selma recreates the underwater embrace from The Shape of Water with alien Kang … Or Kodos?

The Simpsons “Treehouse of Horror XXX” will premiere October 20 on FOX.
