DWA Week: ‘Marooned’ Debuts at AMC Theaters Aug. 23

The new DreamWorks Animation short film Marooned is landing this Friday, making its nationwide debut at AMC Theaters across the U.S. from August 23-29 as part of the AMC DreamWorks Animation Week. To celebrate, the studio has released new art featuring the short’s main character, C-0R13, and the first still of A-L1C1A.

Directed by DWA story artist Andrew Erekson (How to Train Your Dragon 3, Captain Underpants), Marooned had its world premiere at the Annecy Animation Festival in June and screened in the Electronic Theater at SIGGRAPH last month.

Synopsis: This stylized look of the not too distant future tells the story of a cantankerous and selfish robot, named C-0R13. Stranded on an abandoned lunar outpost, C-0R13 longs to return to Earth. With a partially built ship and his last power source, this determined robot will stop at nothing to achieve his goal. When C-0R13 accidentally stumbles on a deactivated robot, named A-L1C1A, his character and his mission are put to the test when his naive little friend helps him learn what it truly means to be selfless.

The 7’35”, 2D/3D short is produced by Jeff Hermann, edited by James Ryan, with music by composer Amie Doherty (Star Trek: Discovery, Altered Carbon).

DreamWorks Animation Week at AMC Theaters brings back fan-favorite hits from the studio for one week only, offering a fun cinematic recap ahead of the arrival of DWA’s latest feature Abominable on September 27. Titles include Trolls, How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, Shrek and Madagascar.
