English Dub Trailer Drops for ‘Tokyo Godfathers’ Restoration

GKIDS has released the official English-language dubbed trailer for the brand-new restoration of Satoshi Kon’s acclaimed feature Tokyo Godfathers (2003). The reinvigorated anime gem opens March 13 at The Metrograph theater in New York City and Laemmle’s Lumiere Music Hall in Los Angeles.

GKIDS and Fathom Events will also present special screenings of Tokyo Godfathers on March 9 (English subtitled) and March 11 (English dubbed) at 7 p.m. local time. Participating theaters and ticket sales available through FathomEvents.com.

Synopsis: In modern-day Tokyo, three homeless people’s lives are changed forever when they discover a baby girl at a garbage dump on Christmas Eve. As the New Year fast approaches, these three forgotten members of society band together to solve the mystery of the abandoned child and the fate of her parents. Along the way, encounters with seemingly unrelated events and people force them to confront their own haunted pasts, as they learn to face their future, together.

The new English-language dub produced by GKIDS and NYAV Post features the voices of Jon Avner (Just Cause 3) as Gin, Victoria Grace (Mirai) as Miyuki and Shakina Nayfack (Transparent, Difficult People) as Hana, with Kate Bornstein, Crispin Freeman, David Manis, Jamieson Price and Kirk Thornton.

Produced by the prolific Masao Maruyama (In This Corner of the World, Summer Wars, Perfect Blue) with a screenplay by Kon (Paprika, Millennium Actress) and Keiko Nobuoto (Cowboy Bebop series & movie), Tokyo Godfathers features a whimsical score by Keiichi Suzuki and hails from celebrated studio Madhouse.
