European animation org CARTOON has, in light of the continued difficulties and complications wrought by the pandemic, to cancel its ‘real life’ plans for Cartoon 360. Originally planned for Nov. 17-19 in Lille, France, the transmedia pitch event will now be held fully digitally. Further, the deadline to submit projects has been extended to September 30.
As usual, the digital version of Cartoon 360 will provide an e-catalog to participants with all information about participating partners, experts and young talents, as well as a detailed list of contacts. New for this edition will be a mobile app containing all information about selected projects, and a unique digital platform where the event will stream live — virtual attendees all over the world can log on to watch pitches and keynote addresses, listen to expert feedback and interact with each other.
Cartoon 360 pitch spots are open to European producers looking to develop an animated property into a cross-media brand for multiple platforms (TV, mobile, books, games, etc.) Selected projects will be pitched to — and receive invaluable advice from — professional transmedia specialists from across Europe.
Participants can also soak up information on best practices in content creation and roll-out strategy, audience engagement, marketing, budgeting, business planning and more from expert talks throughout the two-and-a-half-day event. This year’s lineup of speakers includes reps from Aardman Animations, BBC Children’s, Ketnet, Planeta Junior, Rainbow and more.
