Toronto’s 9 Story Entertainment has acquired a 50 percent interest in toy manufacturer The Monster Factory. “This marks a natural extension of 9 Story’s expertise in IP from creation to distribution, and now directly to the consumer,” said 9 Story Ent. co-founders Vince Commisso and Steven Jarosz. “The Monster Factory’s unique brand and characters have tremendous potential for expanding to new business platforms and we look forward to the opportunities this partnership represents.”
Launched in 2007, The Monster Factory’s popular plush monsters have developed a cult following and garnered critical attention from a wide range of leading consumer magazines, trend reports, and online media. Company founders Adam Dunn, Rhya Tamasauskas and Bliss Man have created a world of over 100 characters with developed backgrounds, story lines and product designs.
9 Story Entertainment, well known as leading, creators, producers and distributors of animation and live action content for young audiences, has been steadily expanding the consumer products licensing segment of its business, most recently with their Almost Naked Animals animated series. Peep and the Big Wide World, Wibbly Pig, Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars and Wild Kratts, Almost Naked Animals, Survive This, and the upcoming PBS show Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood are all part of 9 Story Enterprises’ catalog.
