In a representational first for the show, Cartoon Network’s backyard explorer Crag learns a new skill: American Sign Language. You can catch a sneak peek at Monday’s new episode of Craig of the Creek below, and prepare for the most epic dodgeball battle the Creek has ever seen!
In the episode, “Dodgy Decisions,” where friends and rivals are pitted against each other in an intense game of dodgeball, Craig is up against Jackie, “The Arm,” who is the best thrower in the Creek. When Craig meets with Jackie to determine who picks first for teams, he discovers Jackie is deaf.
Southern California Black Deaf Advocates consulted on this episode, which features American Sign Language. Jackie is a recurring character in the Emmy-, GLAAD- and NAACP Image Award-nominated series.
Craig of the Creek follows the precocious Craig and his best friends Kelsey and J.P., as they transform everyday afternoons into extraordinary adventures through imaginative play at the neighborhood creek. Season five delves deeper into the endless world of the Creek as Craig embarks on more journeys with friends new and old, finding adventure, mystery and fun around every bend.
As announced in January, Craig of the Creek fans can look forward to a fifth season as well as an origin story movie preschool spinoff series Jessica’s Big Little World, all set to roll out in 2023. The series is created by Matt Burnett and Ben Levin (Steven Universe).
