VES Awards Updates Rules with Combined Animation Categories

Due to the constant changes to the visual effects industry, the VES Awards Committee has made some revisions in the Rules & Procedures in order to bring the definitions of several categories in line with current industry practices. The Committee advises those planning to enter work for consideration to review the new rules and pay attention to the submission schedule, as entries now close November 30, 2o22. the fee for entry is still USD$460.

The newest VES Award honors the inventors of a novel and uniquely innovative tool, device, software or methodology of outstanding value to the art and science of Visual Effects, Gaming or Animation. Category 25: Emerging Technology Award celebrates individuals: the production developers, R&D technical directors, software engineers and creators of the technology behind the visuals.

Categories 11 (Outstanding Animated Character in an Episode or Real-Time Project) and 12 (Outstanding Animated Character in a Commercial) have been combined into a single new award, Category 11: Outstanding Animated Character in an Episode, Commercial or Real-Time Project.

Additionally, the R&Ps for the following categories have been refined: Category 7: Outstanding Visual Effects in a Commercial; Category 15: Outstanding Virtual Cinematography in a CG Project; Category 19: Outstanding Effects Simulations in an Episode, Commercial or Real-Time Project and Category 22: Outstanding Compositing & Lighting in a Commercial.

Only one submission per project is allowed in the General Categories (categories 1 through 8).
