Audiences in France and Korea are enjoying a sneak peek at some new footage from James Cameron’s eagerly anticipated sequel Avatar: The Way of Water when they attend the remastered released of the director’s original 2009 hit Avatar. According to several reactions in social media, the scene is not the same in different markets an theater. Most responses have been overwhelmingly positive.
Avatar was rereleased on (Sept. 21) in Korea and France, and will roll out in the U.S. and most international markets this Friday (except Spain, which will happen on Sept. 30) and China (where it was rereleased last year). Disney hasn’t commented on the post-credit sneak peek.
With over $2.847 billion in box-office takes, Cameron’s original feature is still the highest-grossing global blockbuster of all. The film was written and directed by Cameron and stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez and Sigourney Weaver.

New cast members include Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Jermaine Clement, Michelle Yeoh, Brendan Cowell, Oona Chaplin and Vin Diesel. With a budget of $250 million, the film is estimated to be one of the priciest movies of all time.
Disney will release Avatar: The Way of Water internationally on Dec. 14. The sequel will arrive in the U.S. on Friday, Dec. 16. Three additional sequels will be released in Decembers of 2024, 2026 and 2028.
