The original feature debut of writer/director Atsuko Ishizuka, Goodbye, Don Glees! is making its way to Blu-ray + DVD combo (December 27) and digital release (Dec. 13) through GKIDS, with distribution by Shout! Factory. Produced by acclaimed Japanese studio Madhouse, the touching film will come home bundled with an interview with the director.
The Blu-ray version of Goodbye, Don Glees! is now available for pre-order from GKIDS.com and ShoutFactory.com, currently listed at $21.98.
Conceived by Ishizuka, who previously directed the widely lauded series A Place Further Than The Universe and the feature No Game, No Life: Zero, the picture screened in competition at major film festivals including the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Tokyo International Film Festival and Fantasia Fest.
The film features Japanese voice over stars Ayumu Murase (Shoyo Hinata, Haikyu!!), Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro Kamado, Demon Slayer), Kana Hanazawa (Akane Tsunemori, Psycho-Pass) and Yuuki Kaji (Eren Jaeger, Attack on Titan) in its original Japanese-language version.
The Blu-ray set Bonus Features include an interview with director Ishizuka and trailers.
Synopsis: Teen misfits Roma, Toto, and Drop call themselves the “Don Glees,” an informal name for their backyard adventures. One day, when the trio gets blamed for a nearby forest fire, they set off into the woods to prove their innocence. As disaster strikes their expedition, tensions flare between the friends as they realize that growing up has taken them on wildly different paths in life.
