Five animated features have been nominated for the upcoming European Film Awards, which are scheduled to take place on Dec. 10 in Reykjavík.
This year’s eclectic and thought-provoking nominees are:
- Little Nicholas – Happy As Can Be (Le Petit Nicolas – Qu’est-Ce Qu’on Attend Pour Être Heureux?) directed by Amandine Fredon & Benjamin Massoubre (France, Luxembourg)
- My Love Affair With Marriage. Directed by Signe Baumane (Latvia, United States, Luxembourg)
- My Neighbors’ Neighbors (Les Voisins De Mes Voisins Sont Mes Voisins) directed by Anne-Laure Daffis & Léo Marchand (France)
- No Dogs Or Italians Allowed (Interdit Aux Chiens Et Aux Italiens) directed by Alain Ughetto (France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal)
- Oink (Knor) directed by Mascha Halberstad (Netherlands, Belgium)
The European Academy also selected three animated shorts among their general shorts category:
- Granny’s Sexual Life – Urška Djukič, Émilie Pigeard (Slovenia, France)
- Ice Merchants – João Gonzalez (Portugal, France, U.K.)
- Love, Dad – Diana Cam Van Nguyen (Czech Republic, Slovakia)

Following the nominations, 4,400 members of the European Film Academy will vote for the winner, who will be announced at the European Film Awards ceremony in Reykjavík on 10 December 2022. The ceremony of the European Film Awards is presented by the European Film Academy and European Film Academy Productions.
Flee, Josep, Bunuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles, Another Day of Life, Loving Vincent, My Life as a Courgette, Song of the Sea, The Art of Happiness, The Congress, Alex Nebel and Chico and Rita have been among the winners of the award over the past decade.
