‘The Canterville Ghost’ Haunts Digital Platforms Dec. 5

A charming spirit is ready to visit home screens this holiday season, as Shout! Studios and Shout! Kids bring The Canterville Ghost to Digital platforms on December 5.

The Oscar Wilde adventure tells the story of modern American girl Virginia Otis (voiced by Emily Carey) and her family, who move into their recently purchased English country home, Canterville Chase, only to find it is haunted by a ghost. Effectively, Sir Simon de Canterville (Stephen Fry) has been haunting the grounds of Canterville Chase successfully for over 300 years, but he meets his match in Virginia when he tries to scare out the new arrivals.

Directed by Kim Burdon (Stressed Eric) and co-directed by Robert Chandler (The Amazing Maurice), from a screenplay by Keiron Self & Giles New, The Canterville Ghost also features the voices of Hugh Laurie as The Grim Reaper, Freddie Highmore as The Duke of Cheshire, David Harewood as Hiram Otis, Meera Syal as Lucretia Otis and Miranda Hart as The Ghost Catcher, with Toby Jones as Reverend Chasubie, and Imelda Staunton as Mrs. Umney.

Adapted for modern audiences of all ages, the colorful animated adventure uses humor and compelling characters — notably its strong, young female lead — to relay important messages about curiosity, courage, friendship, love and forgiveness.

The Canterville Ghost will be available to purchase or rent in the U.S. & Canada across digital platforms including Apple TV, Prime Video, Google Play, YouTube, Vudu, Microsoft, DirecTV and DISH.
