Warner Bros. Japan LLC today released new visuals featuring the anime-styled anit-heroes of Suicide Squad ISEKAI, plus an updated trailer featuring new footage from the show and the news that Mori Calliope is the ending theme song artist. (As previously announced, the opening theme opening theme will be “Another World,” performed by Tomoyasu Hotei — formerly of BOØWY.)
Based on characters from DC and produced by Warner Bros. Japan and WIT Studio, Suicide Squad ISEKAI is directed by Eri Osada with screenplay by Tappei Nagatsuki (Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World) and Eiji Umehara (Vivy – Fluorite Eye’s Song).
Synopsis: In the crime-ridden Gotham city, Amanda Waller, the head of A.R.G.U.S., has assembled a group of notorious criminals for a mission: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Peacemaker, Clayface and King Shark. These DC Super-Villains are sent into an otherworldly realm that’s connected to this world through a gate. It’s a world of swords and magic where orcs rampage and dragons rule the skies — an “ISEKAI!”
Harley and others go on a rampage after arriving in ISEKAI but are captured by the Kingdom’s soldiers and sent to prison. They only have 72 hours before the bomb on their neck explodes.
The deadline is fast approaching. After negotiations with Queen Aldora, the condition for liberation was the conquest of the hostile Imperial army. They have no choice but to throw themselves head-first into the front line of battle.
They run; they die. They lose; they die. With their lives on the line, can Harley Quinn and The Suicide Squad survive in ISEKAI? Brace yourselves for the pulse-pounding saga of the elite task force known as the “Suicide Squad” as they embark on a jaw-dropping adventure! Let the party begin!
Leading the voice cast as the Suicide Squad are Anna Nagase (Harley Quinn), Yuuichirou Umehara (Joker), Reigo Yamaguchi (Deadshot), Takehito Koyasu (Peacemaker), Jun Fukuyama (Clayface/Cecil) and Subaru Kumra (King Shark). Additional characters from Gotham and the Isekai world are played by Taku Yashiro (Rick Flag), Chika Anzai (Katana), Kujira (Amanda Waller), Reina Ueda (Fione) and Mamiko Noto (Aldora).
Mori Calliope is a VTuber artist who is popular not only in Japan but also in other countries around the world — thanks to her unique lyrics, which mix English and Japanese, and her rap skills. Mori Calliope’s latest EP JIGOKU 6 charted at No. 1 on the iTunes Album Rock Chart in nine countries and regions and charted on the U.S. Billboard World Album and Top Album Sales charts, expanding her global recognition as a made-in-Japan artist.
“When I first debuted, one of my biggest dreams was to someday write and perform songs for anime. I didn’t actually think it would come true, but I always hoped. This song is a vibrant celebration of feelings I’ve learned to treasure while being an artist- be yourself, unapologetically and without shame. Even if people villainize you, live loud and proud and be true to yourself. These are words I needed to hear myself, and so I wrote them for myself and for all of us. Please enjoy the electrifying beats provided by Giga and Teddyloid, as well!”
