Danish creative company Mint Copenhagen is expanding its footprint in Europe, opening a London office to grow its IP development slate and further boost both the studio and agency sides of its business.
Rob Doherty is joining the Mint Copenhagen team, consulting as SVP of Business Development, focusing on developing the company’s own slate of animated and live action IP, working with creative talent, studios, broadcast and co-production partners in the U.K. and across Europe.
With 30 years in the children’s television industry, Doherty has a wealth of experience in development and overseeing multi-territory co-productions working for Aardman Animations, Disney, M2 Films, ITV, Endemol, Initial Productions, TVC Cartoons, and Cake Entertainment, with recent credits including Angry Birds: Summer Madness (Netflix), Supa Team 4 (Netflix) and Space Chickens In Space (Disney).
“Mint draws on the strong Nordic tradition of storytelling to bring fresh ideas to its content,” said Doherty. “I’m looking forward to developing our slate of creative, original IP working with new partners both in the U.K. and across Europe.”
Also based in the U.K. office is Shane Keane, Mint’s new Head of Growth, EMEA, who will be responsible for growing Mint’s digital agency business, working with new and existing clients to create trailblazing online campaigns for kids and family brands.
Keane joins Mint from SuperAwesome, where he was Head of Business Development, EMEA, having held a number of positions within the company. Prior to that previous roles include Head of Programmatic Sales EMEA, ROW at Shazam Entertainment and Head of EMEA Operations at Greystripe International (now Conversant Media-Publicis Groupe).
“Mint’s digital campaigns engage audiences and create an entertaining experience for families,” Keane commented. “At the forefront of the ever-evolving media landscape, we are incredibly well position to deliver unparalleled creative angles and solutions ensuring we always deliver compelling campaigns. We are excited to expand our client base to work with major brands across Europe.”
Doherty and Keane will both work closely with the team in Copenhagen, headed by Philip Agerbech, Josephine Jerris Margolis and Rasmus Dige.
To date, Mint has had a number of animated and live-action series on air across the Nordic region. Key titles include Darkness Between Us (Mørket Mellem Os), a mini series for DR, and two seasons of First Time (Første Gang) for media house Aller Media, which was a major hit on YouTube; and Mint is currently working on its first global IP for one of the world’s leading broadcasters. The company’s proprietary animation projects include Flip, Flop & Flanagan and Guardians of Hoovia.
On the agency side, Mint has found success in the kids’ and family space over the last five years, working with brands including Epic Games, Star Stable, Funko, Pokémon and Topps.
