LEGO World Builder — the platform created in 2020 by LEGO Group and Tongal to provide creators around the world a space to build their own LEGO worlds, stories and characters — has extended a unique opportunity for talented fans. More than 100 brick enthusiasts responded to a call for ideas for a bottle episode of the animated series LEGO DREAMZzz, and the winning pitch is ready to go to screen.
Last week, LEGO World Builder user Shawn Boyd was selected as the creator of the winning concept, which will be turned into a full episode in Season 3 of LEGO DREAMZzz, set to stream on Netflix next year. The 27-year-old from Rockford, Illinois set his self-contained “bottle” episode story inside an actual bottle. The LEGO creative team was impressed by the imaginative twist and the storyline centered around Boyd’s own struggles with writer’s block.
LEGO DREAMZzz follows a group of kids — Mateo, Izzie, Cooper, Logan and Zoey — who join a secret agency where they learn to use the power of imagination to journey into the dream world. Here, they craft fantastic creations in order to protect sleeping children from being terrorized by the evil Nightmare King, who is bent on conquering the dream world and invading the waking world. The series launched in 2023 on YouTube, Prime Video, Netflix, Sky and ITVX in the U.K. Episodes are also available at kids.lego.com.
LEGO World Builder is used by more than 10,000 creators who have built more than 7,000 original worlds. Participants on the platform can co-create together, offering input and ideas to each other’s worlds. When LEGO option or buy a concept, all the creators that have contributed get paid.
The LEGO Group has been using Tongal’s global creator platform to build and develop content since 2012.
