Focus Features today unveiled a new piece sure to click with music fans, launching the official trailer for Pharrell Williams’ Piece by Piece. Directed and produced by Oscar-winning documentarian Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom), the animated biopic will release in theaters on Friday, October 11.
Synopsis: Piece by Piece is a unique cinematic experience that invites audiences on a vibrant journey through the life of cultural icon Pharrell Williams. Told through the lens of LEGO animation, turn up the volume on your imagination and witness the evolution of one of music’s most innovative minds.
In addition to multi-Grammy-winner and Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated singer-songwriter-producer Pharrell, the film features bricktastic appearances by music icons Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes, Jay Z and Snoop Dogg.
Williams also produces alongside Neville, Mimi Valdés and Caitrin Rogers. Executive producers are David Lawrence, Shani Saxon, Jill Wilfert and Keith Malone. The film is produced in partnership between LEGO Group, Focus Features, Neville’s Tremolo Productions, Pure Imagination Studios and Williams’ creative collective i am OTHER.
Notably, Piece by Piece is the largest motion picture to date produced in collaboration with a digital creator community platform — Tongal (tongal.com) — with a crew of almost 100 Tongal Creators from around the globe building the film’s LEGO brick world since 2020, from proof of concept to character design, location building and production.
