Blinkink director Rama Djafari, a multi-award-winning creator based in Berlin working across animation and mixed-media, has spearheaded another compelling music video project. Having previously worked with Elton John & Dua Lipa (“Cold Heart”), Ashnikko (“Worms”) and Squid (“Pamphlets”), Djafari has now teamed up with bestselling British rock band Coldplay on an animated music video for their new single, “feelslikeimfallinginlove.”
The concept of depicting many different forms of love and longing was brought to life by seamlessly connected sequences created by Djafari and 15 different animation artists around the world, each in its own distinct style and medium. Techniques range from pencil-drawn 2D to felted puppets and a pair of slow-dancing stop-frame crabs, animated by Annecy Cristal-winning Swedish filmmaker Niki Lindroth von Bahr (Bath House, The Burden, Netflix’s The House).
Blinkink is planning to showcase more behind the scenes content to celebrate this ambitious project soon.
The lyric video for “feelslikeimfallinginlove” was directed by Djafari, produced by Alexander Hanschuh, co-produced by Jon Mealing and executive produced by Josef Byrne. Head of production for Blinkink was Alex Halley. The contributing animators, in order of the appearance of their sequences, are:
