The fate of the bot planet is in the balance in the final theatrical trailer for Transformers One, dropped by Paramount Pictures today. The spot ratchets up the suspense as Optimus Prime and Megatron’s brotherly bond is pulled apart in the face of full-out, laser-blasting robo-war, and is set to a new original song that pays homage to the classic “Robots in Disguise” theme that has carried the brand’s animated iterations through four decades.
The film will open domestically Friday, September 20 (approximately 3,883 locations), with previews starting Thursday evening. Paramount says it is expecting a long run for the family-friendly fandom title, fueled by word-of-mouth from Transformers fans and new audience buzz as well as positive critical reviews — including reaching a high of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, settling to a current 89% from 62 reviews.
The Autobots will roll out across 50 international markets this week, including Mexico, Spain, Australia, Japan, Netherlands, and the Middle East. Later opening markets include Brazil, Italy, Korea, China, Germany, United Kingdom and France.
