‘The Snow Queen’ Prodco Rebrands as Voronezh Animation Studio with New Projects on the Way

Wizart Animation Studio, the Russian production company behind global hit franchises such as The Snow Queen, Sheep and Wolves and The Tales of Wonder Keepers, has announced a rebrand. The studio whose projects have been released in cinemas in more than 150 countries is, after 15 years, changing its name to Voronezh Animation Studio.

The company says this rebranding “not only shows the studio’s commitment to quality and innovation, but also highlights the unique connection with the city where technology and creativity merge, where bright ideas are born and where the production base and creative team of the studio are located.” Voronezh Animation Studio is continuing to pursue projects with global storytelling appeal utilizing the latest in 3D CG animation technology.

Among the studio’s new projects is an animated film for a teenage audience The Steel Family. The story centers on three children from an ordinary family: a 15-year-old robotics fan, 12-year- old blogger and seven-year-old animal lover who one day find out that their father is not an engineer at all, but a secret agent. The whole family goes on a deadly dangerous journey from Moscow to Siberia to a scientific base hidden in the taiga wilderness, where a powerful energy source unknown to science has been discovered. Together, they will have to unravel its mystery protect it from the encroachment of a powerful corporation that wants to use the energy for its own profit.

The Steel Family was released on Kinopoisk, Russia’s largest online platform, where it rated an 8.6 out of 10 from audiences and entered the top 150 of all cinema content. For international distribution, the project is available as a TV series or a feature animated film.

Voronezh Animation Studio is also currently working on a new animated feature, Arctic Heroes, which follows the adventures of a group of school kids who rescue a real, living and intelligent baby mammoth found in the Arctic ice. The heroes help this anachronistic calf to escape from an obsessed scientist and set off together on a quest to uncover the mystery of its origin. The studio notes this story offers a unique opportunity for co-production with China.

Vladimir Nikolaev, General Producer of Voronezh Animation Studio, will present new projects within the framework of the III Global Digital Trade Expo (GDTE), which will be held at the Hangzhou Grand Convention and Exhibition Center from September 25 to 29. GDTE is China’s only international professional exhibition dedicated to the digital economy and trade, which showcases new technologies, new projects and products aimed at promoting global cooperation in the digital trade sector.
