The weekly shower of big awards to Gore Verbinski’s feature Rango continued on Sunday (Feb. 12) when the quirky CG-animated movie received the Best Animated Feature BAFTA Award during a star-studded event at the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden. The film’s competition in this category were Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin and Sarah Smith’s Arthur Christmas.
A Morning Stroll, directed by Grant Orchard and produced by Sue Goffe took home the Best Animated Short BAFTA award. The charming short, about a New Yorker’s odd encounters with a resilient chicken, is also nominated for an Oscar. Tim Burke, John Richardson, Greg Butler and David Vickery received the Special Visual Effects award for their work on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 (beating out other favorites The Adventures of Tintin, Hugo, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and War Horse.
