‘Wreck-It Ralph’ to Offer Vidgame Star Cameos

More info about Disney’s upcoming holiday movie Wreck-It Ralph was released the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas this week. Directed by Rich Moore (Sit Down, Shut Up, Drawn Together, Futurama), this much-anticipated CG-animated movie centers on a 1980s arcade game character (voiced by John C. Reilly) who is tired of being the bad guy and ventures into other games to become a hero. Jane Lynch and Sarah Silverman also provide support voices.

Footage screened at CinemaCon confirmed appearances from classic video game characters from Nintendo, Midway Games, Sega and more. Filmmakers had hinted at previous press events that they were trying to acquire rights to use some classic video game characters in the movie, but wouldn’t confirm names. Support group scene characters include:

Bowser from Super Mario Bros. Doctor Eggman from Sonic the Hedgehog, Kano from Mortal Kombat, a Ghost from Pac-Man, Zangief from Street Fighter and Coily the Snake from Q*bert. Wreck-It Ralph will be released on Nov. 2, 2012, competing against DreamWorks Animation’s Rise of the Guardians.
