BIONICLE: Mask of Light to Premiere at LEGOLAND

Last year’s most popular boy toy is now a computer animated feature film co-produced by Miramax and LEGO Company production shingle Create TV & Film. Buena Vista Home Entertainment will release the eagerly awaited BIONICLE: Mask of Light on DVD and VHS on Tuesday, Sept. 16 and certain guests of LEGOLAND can get a first look at the world premiere on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Mask of Light is the first in a planned series of BIONICLE films geared to the lucrative home video market. There is also an animated theatrical release in the works.

The action/adventure film is set on an island paradise inhabited by biomechanical beings who must find the fabled Mask of Light to prevent darkness from taking over their world.

Celebrities and special guests, yet to be announced, will further illuminate the premiere, which will feature costumed characters, a gigantic Mask of Light portal complete with smoke and lighting effects and an enormous mosaic of the movie poster built entirely from LEGO bricks. Fans can also jump aboard the BIONICLE Blaster ride and construct their own characters in the BIONICLE Evolution area.

LEGOLAND is located at One LEGOLAND Drive in Carlsbad, Calif. The park opens at 10:00 a.m., with red carpet arrivals beginning at 5:00 p.m. The screening will start a 6:00 p.m., followed by a party at 7:30 p.m.

The second BIONICLE DVD/VHS title is already in production and scheduled for release in September 2004.
