Nickelodeon’s popular animated series Penguins of Madagascar took home the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Children’s Animated Program on Saturday (June 23). The National Academy of TV Arts & Sciences event took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The show is produced by multiple-Emmy-winning animation veterans Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley, whose many credits include Kim Possible and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. The spinoff of DreamWorks’ Madagascar movies, the CG-animated show first premiered on Nick in November of 2008.
Penguins beat Nick’s Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, SpongeBob SquarePants, PBS’ Curious George, Sid the Science Kid and APT’s Peep & The Big Wide World. Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash was the winner in the Outstanding Performance in a Children’s Series for his work on Sesame Street.
