Korean film The King of Pigs won the top prize for animated features at the Fantasia International Film Festival, while animator Don Hertzfeld’s latest won the best animated short prize.
The Montreal-based festival honored The King of Pigs, a drama about two former middle-school classmates reuniting amid difficult circumstances and learning secrets of their shared past, with the Satoshi Kon Award.
The film, directed by Yeon Sang-ho also received a special mention from the feature jury, which was comprised of Gabriel Pelletier, Jay Baruchel, Sylvain Krief and Maggie Lee.
Acclaimed short-toon maker Hertzfeld won for his most recent animated short, It’s Such a Beautiful Day.
