Disney’s CG-animated hit, Chicken Little, arrives on home video today following a successful theatrical run. Bonus materials on the DVD include interactive activities and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the studio’s first in-house computer-generated feature.
Directed by Mark Dindal (Cats Don’t Dance, The Emperor’s New Groove), this new take on the time-honored tale of a chicken confused by gravity was written by Steve Benchich and Ron J. Friedman, who collaborated on the scripts for Disney’s Brother Bear and Sony Pictures Animation’s upcoming Open Season. This time, the Chicken Little story gets a sci-fi twist and our hero must convince everyone that an alien invasion is eminent.
Zach Braff (Garden State, TV’s Scrubs) stars as the voice of Chicken Little, leading an all-star cast that includes Garry Marshal, John Cusack, Steve Zahn, Amy Sedaris, Patrick Stewart, Patrick Warburton, Harry Shearer, Fred Willard, Catherine O’Hara, Adam West and the recently departed Don Knotts. The film grossed more than $309 million in theaters worldwide and should also be a big at retail.
Extra features on the DVD include deleted scenes, three alternate openings, a making-of featurette titled Hatching Chicken Little, a Where’s Fish? interactive game, a karaoke sing along and music videos for soundtrack songs from The Cheetah Girls and Barenaked Ladies. Parents can let the multiple viewings begin for the list price of $29.99.
