Nerdy Anime Boy M’R Arrives on DVD

Publishing, animation and licensing company VIZ Media, LLC, is bringing the anime series M’R to DVD. The first volume, Gateway To M’R, which debuts this week, contains four episodes. (Rated ‘T’ for Teens the suggested retail price is $19.98.)

M’R is a popular staple of Toonami Jetstream, an online service launched last year by Cartoon Network and VIZ Media. M’R was the most watched show on Toonami for the week of 5/21-5/27, is number three overall in lifetime views and also enjoys a dedicated and growing fan-base on the network’s broadcast side.

The series is based on a popular 15-volume manga by Nobuyuki Anzai which is also distributed by VIZ Media. It tells the story of Ginta Toramizu, a 14-year-old middle school student, who has had 102 dreams about the World of M’R, yet he isn’t sure what they mean. Ginta is short, nerdy and has terrible eyesight. An outcast who is often the object of teasing at school, Ginta is propelled into the world M’R after a dimensional door opens in his classroom. In this new world, Ginta is still short, but possesses incredible strength. ‘M’R is a fast-rising star of the VIZ Media repertoire and we are pleased to launch it on DVD,’ says Liza Coppola, senior vice president of VIZ marketing.
