France’s Academy of Technical Arts and Sciences nominated five well-received animated titles for this year’s Cesars, the country’s equivalent of the Oscars. Unlike the Academy Awards, the animation category covers both animated features and shorts:
The five nominees for this year’s animated Cesars are:
Edmond Was a Donkey. Directed by Franck Dion.
Ernest and Celestine. Directed by Benjamin Renner, Vincent Patar and Stephane Aubier.
Kirikou and the Men and Women. Directed by Michel Ocelot.
Oh Willy… Directed by Emma de Swaef, Marc Roels.
Zarafa. Directed by Remi Bezancon and Jean-Christophe Lie.
Indie distributor GKIDS will release both Zarafa and Ernest and Celestine in select U.S. theaters later this year.
The live-action nominees are Farewell, My Queen, Amour, Camille Redouble, In The House, Rust & Bone, Holy Motors and What’s In A Name.
