The pre-MIP-TV deluge of toon TV sales news continues to trickle in, with big deals being announced by Novel Entertainment, Chocolate Liberation Front in advance of the mega market in Cannes next month.
U.K.’s Novel Entertainment has announced new sales for its animated kids’ program Horrid Henry through its global distribution partner Zodiak Kids. Recently secured new and returning broadcast deals include season 3 IPTV and DVD rights to Asiana (Korea); season 3 TV rights to ERT (Greece); season 3 and seasons 1 & 3 re-licenses to Mediacorp (Singapore); season 1 renewal for NRK (Norway); seasons 2 & 3 for Pro Plus (Slovenia) and seasons 1, 2 & 3 to PlusPlus (Ukraine). Season 1 will also be debuting in Israel through Noga Communications. The third 52 x 11 season of the 2D animated show, currently airing on ITV1 and CITV in the U.K., brings the total to 156 episodes. Previous broadcast deals include Cartoon Network (Asia Pacific), ZDF (Germany), RTE (Ireland), RUV (Iceland), SVT (Sweden), YLE (Finland), RTP (Portugal), TVP1 (Poland), Iconix (Korea) and Digiturk (Turkey).
Melbourne-based Chocolate Liberation Front will soon see its award-winning CG series The Adventures of Figaro Pho playing in over 80 countries thanks to new broadcast sales to Canal+, HBO Czech, BBC Kids Canada and Cartoon Network South & Latin America. DVD deals are also rolling out in Australia and select European territories. CLF has also announced the release of the Figaro Pho: Creatures & Critters touch screen game for iOS and Android mobile devices—the first of three planned action puzzle games, distributed by ABC Commercial. Thanks to Screen Australia Enterprise Funding, CLF is developing a new slate of projects and will be showcasing Fantastic Forest (52 x 11, preschool) at the MIP-TV market through its Canadian partner CCI Entertainment, available to discuss pre-sales at the event.
