+ Disney Channel has acquired Guru Studios‘ Emmy-nominated preschool show Justin Time (52 x 11) for its channels in Central & Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The four-year deal includes all Pay TV rights for seasons 1 and 2; the show is already a ratings hit on Disney channels in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and Italy. Justin Time currently airs in over 70 countries.

+ FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment has secured a raft of deals for its preschool action-adventure series Tree Fu Tom, cementing the property’s presence in Europe. Recent deals with SVT (Sweden) and DRK (Denmark) added to previous sales to YLE (Finland) and NRK (Norway) round off the Nordics. The BAFTA-nominated CG series has also been picked up by RTE (Ireland), Star (Greece), Clan (Spain) and Canal Panda (Portugal). Tree Fu Tom is co-produced by the BBC for CBeebies and animated by Blue Zoo Animation.

+ TV PinGuim has inked major deals for its animated series Earth to Luna! (52 x 11, kids 3-6) and Gemini 8 (52 x 11, kids 6-10). Luna has been sold to TV Brasil, Discover Kids LatAm and Discovery Familia (Spanish-speaking U.S.); Gemini 8 has been picked up by Disney LatAm. All broadcasters have set premieres for 2014. PinGuim has the first finished episode of Luna at MIPCOM and is developing an interactive app for the series with sister company iPicinic.

+ Studio 100 is launching a new 2D animated series at the market this year: K3 (52 x 13; kids 6-8) is based on the company’s popular girls’ band and live-action movie series (created by Alan Gilbey & Jan Van Rijsselberge) and will follow bubbly teen pop trio Karen, Krystal and Kathleen on their global tour packed with adventure. M6 in France is a commissioning partner, set to debut K3 in 2015. Eric Cazes will direct.

Also, Studio 100’s CG revamp of Maya the Bee will be buzzing her way to Norway as pubcaster NRK Super has picked up the 78 x 12 series with plans to begin airing next year. The preschool show is produced in association with TF1 and ZDF; Studio 100 Media handles worldwide distribution. In earlier deals, Maya has already been grabbed by Finland’s MTV3 and Sweden’s SVT Barnkanalen.

+ Atlantyca Entertainment and Moonscoop have sold season 1 of their popular 2D series Geronimo Stilton to Germany’s ARD. The broadcaster picked up Season 2 last year, which launched on KIKA in November and has proven a success for the kids’ network; it was also broadcast on ARD’s national program Das Erste in July. Geronimo Stilton is produced with the participation of Rai Fiction, France Television and M6 and currently airs in over 100 territories. (www.atlantyca.com)
