Fox Kids Europe Makes Tripple Play

The Programming Division at Fox Kids Europe has added three hot, new action/adventure TV properties to its lineup of programs serviced by Buena Vista Int’l Television. The broadcaster has acquired distribution rights to Sonic X, Tutenstein and Shaman King.

The Sonic X deal covers all TV and home video rights worldwide, excluding North America and Asia. The 52 X 30 series was acquired from TMS Entertainment Ltd. Based on Sega’s popular video game character Sonic the Hedgehog, the animated action/comedy follows the adventures of the title hero and his best friend Christopher.

The 26 X 30 comedy/fantasy series Tutenstein weaves its stories around the premise that a 3,000-year-old boy pharaoh has been awakened in 21st Century America and still believes that he rules the world. FKE nabbed TV, home video, online/interactive and merchandising rights for Europe, Israel and French Speaking Africa. The series was originally produced by PorchLight Ent. for Discovery Kids in the U.S.

In an agreement with TV Tokyo MediaNet, FKE has picked up all TV and home video rights to the 64 X 30 animated fantasy/adventure series Shaman King, about a 13-year-old shaman-priest. The deal covers Europe (excluding Spain and Portugal), the Middle East, Isreal and French and English speaking Africa (excluding South Africa). In the U.S., Sonic X and Shaman King premiere on Fox Box this week, while Tutenstein debuts Nov. 1 on NBC’s Discovery Kids.
