Spike TV Welcomes The Immigrants with Marathon

Joining Stripperella and Ren & Stimpy in Spike TV’s animated lineup is the new adult cartoon, The Immigrants, which will debut on August 12 with a two-hour marathon scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Produced by Klasky-Csupo, the studio behind such kid favorites as Rugrats, The Wild Thornberrys and All Grown Up, The Immigrants takes aim at an older audience with the story of Russian immigrant Vladislav and his Hungarian roommate, Joska, who reside at the Vista Del Mar Apartments in Hollywood, Calif. While both believe in the American Dream, Vlad thinks it can be had through hard work while Joska puts faith in the get-rich-quick notion. Simpsons veteran Hank Azaria and Will and Grace‘s Eric McCormack provide the voices for the title characters.

The marathon will kick off with an episode titled "Doorman," in which Vlad learns a cruel lesson about the velvet rope when Joska lands his dream job as doorman at Hollywood’s hottest new nightspot. Trying to do his job well, Joska refuses to admit Vlad into the club on the night of the big drinking contest.

Also coming in August are new episodes of Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon. Starting August 20, Spike will air the continuing adventures everybody’s favorite stressed-out Chihuahua and his trusting feline friend. Created by John Kricfalusi, the new series pushes the envelope decidedly further than he could take it in its first incarnation on Nickelodeon. The new installments join the lineup on Fridays at midnight. Stan Lee’s Stripperella, starring Pamela Anderson, will follow at 2:30 a.m., with repeat airings in the same time slot on Saturdays.
