The resilient Team Satomi gang are ready for new challenges in the second season of IGPX, which kicks off Saturday, May 22, at 10:30 p.m. on Cartoon Network. Co-produced by Japanese powerhouse studio Production I.G., Bandai Entertainment and Cartoon Network, the second season of the high-octane animated series centers on both the exploding egos and new ruthless foes of the Immortal Grand Prix’s IG-1 team, who are no longer the new kids on the block.
Part of the popular Toonami block on Cartoon Network, IGPX showcases the voice talents of Michelle Rodriguez (fresh from her explosive season on Lost), Haley Joel Osment, Lance Henriksen and Mark Hamill. The show garnered good ratings when it premiered on the Toonami block last November. It was billed as the block’s first-ever original production.
The sophomore outing of the toon finds Team Satomi members feeling too cocky about their successful winnings at last year’s IG-1, the Immortal Grand Prix. However, the team quickly learns that there are still more lessons to be learned, especially when you deal with an overconfident lead pilot, a devastating team injury and a new young, rookie team that proves itself a force to be reckoned with.
