Adult Swim Expands with King of the Hill

The long-running animated primetime comedy King of the Hill has been in the news a lot lately with FOX’s decision to cancel it after its current season and ABC’s interest in picking it up. Reruns of the Emmy-winning show from creators Mike Judge (Beavis & Butt-Head) and Greg Daniels (The Office) are joining the lineup on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, which is extending its hours as well its programming.

Adding a full hour, Adult Swim will begin every day at 10 p.m. starting in January. The individually rated block will begin with previously aired episodes of King of the Hill via a multi-year licensing agreement with Twentieth Television. Cartoon Network is hoping the pick-up will help the block continue its ratings success with key demographics. Adult Swim has ranked No. 1 in total day delivery of adults 18-24 and men 18-24 for 14 consecutive quarters.

‘Adult Swim has been a consistent ratings winner,’ notes Stuart Snyder, president and chief operating officer of Turner Broadcasting’s Animation, Young Adults and Kids Media group. ‘By expanding the network with exciting new programming, which speaks directly to our audience, Adult Swim and AdultSwim.com can continue to grow and be the dominant brand with men 18-34.’

Now in its 12th season on FOX, King of the Hill chronicles the life and times of Hank Hill (Mike Judge), his family and their neighbors living in the fictional suburb of Arlen, Texas. Judge and Daniels are exec producers, along with Michael

Rotenberg, Howard Klein, John Altschuler, Dave Krinsky, Jim Dauterive and Garland Testa. The show is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television in association with Deedle-Dee Prods., Judgemental Films and 3 Arts Ent., and is distributed by Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution.
