Fans of the classic toon The Raccoons can now catch the Canadian show on Apple’s iTunes. Skywriter Media and E1 Ent. Group have finalized a deal with E1 Entertainment to launch the show’s first season’each episode is available for $1.99 and the entire season is pried at $9.99’on iTunes this month. Additional seasons and territories will be announced later this year.
The Racoons was created by Skywalker CEO Kevin Gillis and ran from 1985 through 1992 on the CBC. Described as one of the first environmentally themed toons, it follows the adventures of Bert Raccoon and his friends from the Evergreen Forest. The show also ran on Disney Channel in the U.S. and BBC in the UK among others, and has since aired in over 180 territories around the world while continuing to be sold. It currently airs on Teletoon Retro (Canada) and Boomerang (UK and EMEA) .
