PROFILE:
Breakthrough Animation (BAI) was formed under the guidance of seasoned
animation creator, Managing Partner and Executive Producer, Kevin
Gillis along with Executive Producers Ira Levy and Peter Williamson.
Since its inception BAI has produced over 200 half-hours of award-winning,
critically acclaimed animated brands including ATOMIC BETTY, CAPTAIN
FLAMINGO and MISS BG. Along with new episodes of these popular favourites,
BAI is also moving into production on several exciting new projects
including JIMMY TWO SHOES, PRODUCING PARKER and MY BIG BIG FRIEND.
Created in association with TELETOON Canada and Jetix Europe, JIMMY
TWO SHOES is a funny, fast-paced animated series that follows an
enthusiastic 14 year-old kid who accidentally falls into the weird
world of Miseryville, a place where everything inflicts torment
onto its inhabitants. BAI is also busy with the highly anticipated
prime-time animated sitcom, PRODUCING PARKER for CanWest Media (Canada).
An edgy send-up of the daytime talk show genre, PRODUCING PARKER
follows an overworked and underpaid television producer and the
behind the scenes antics of the quirky crew. In development with
YTV/Treehouse, Breakthrough Animation is also working on MY BIG
BIG FRIEND in production with Brazil’s 2D Lab. MY BIG BIG
FRIEND is a delightfully animated series that follows 4 year old
Yuri, who is truly shy and lonely except in his imagination where
he and his big, big friend Golias are brave, daring and adventurous.
With broadcast partners such as Teletoon (Canada), TVO, TFO, YTV,
Jetix/Toon Disney, France 5, CiTV, ABC Australia, QUBO, Nickelodeon
and Cartoon Network, Breakthrough Animation’s programs can
be seen in over 140 countries. Its properties have been nominated
for Gemini Awards, a BAFTA Award and in 2007 Breakthrough Animation
won a New York Film and Video Festival Award for ATOMIC BETTY.
