The Writers Guild of America West and East have unveiled the deadline schedule for the 2017 Writers Guild Awards. The 69th annual WGAs will be presented at simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York on Sunday, February 19, honoring outstanding scriptcraft in film, TV, new media, videogames, news, promotional and animation.
TV, New Media and Animation nominations will be announced December 5; Videogame nominees will be announced January 12.
Eligibility Periods:
TV-Radio-New Media:
Long Form, Episodic, Animation, Children’s Script and Short Form: First broadcast or exhibited between Dec. 1, 2015 and Nov. 30, 2016
All Other Script Categories: First broadcast or exhibited between Oct. 1, 2015 and Sept. 30, 2016
Theatrical Screenplay: Exhibited theatrically in Los Angeles for one week during 2016
Documentary Screenplay: Exhibited theatrically in Los Angeles or New York for one week during 2016
Videogame: Originally released between Dec. 1, 2015 and Nov. 30, 2016
Deadlines:
October 14, 2016 – TV-Radio-New Media; Paul Selvin; Drama/Comedy/New Series submissions
November 18 – Theatrical and Documentary Screenplays submissions
November 21 – Videogame Writing submissions
Voting:
October 25 – Preliminary Series online voting begins
November 22 – Preliminary Series online voting ends
