CAOZ, a CG animation studio in Iceland, has announced production is in full force on a stereoscopic 3D feature film titled Legends of Valhalla: Thor.
The studio has been working with the film since late 2004, going 25 scripts and 15 versions, and it entered production late last year for a fall 2011 release date.
Co-production partners on the film include Ulysses Film of Germany and Magma Productions in Ireland.
The film is based on an Icelandic manuscript estimated to be written 800 years ago by Snorri Sturluson that outlines the worlds of Nordic mythology.
The film has a budget of ‘8.3 million (about $10.6 million) and has been pre-sold to more than 30 countries.
Stereoscopic experts Eric Deren and Graham D. Clark have come on the project as consultants during production, which is occurring in studios in Reykjavik, Iceland; Bremen and Hamburg in Germany; and Galway, Ireland.
A teaser for the film can be seen online at http://www.caoz.com/films/thor-teaser.
