‘Tis the season for major animated motion-picture date disclosures! Warner Bros. has announced the release date for its spin-off from The LEGO Movie ($460.8 million worldwide) based on the LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu line will be September 23, 2016.
The Ninjago project was announced last year and is being written by Dan and Kevin Hageman, the scribes behind Cartoon Network’s CG-animated series launched in 2011. The plot will reportedly diverge from the show’s, however. Charlie Bean (TRON: Uprising) is set to direct, with LEGO Movie alums Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lord and Chris Miller producing. WB previously announced it will release The LEGO Movie 2, directed by Chris McKay, on May 26, 2017.
